i remember playing with play-doh as a kid for hours upon hours upon hours. oh, it was so much fun squishing that stuff around, blending colors with other colors to make groovy new colors, making animal shapes (mostly snakes ’cause they were the easiest) and all that great stuff. i had one really cool play-doh set that was some sort of hair dresser/barbershop type of thing where you would sit the little plastic people in a chair and then squeeze the play-doh into their bodies and out sprouted play-doh hair!! i mean, come on, you can’t get more cool than that, right?
well, as a matter of fact, those folks over at hasbro/play-doh have ideas out the ying-yang so of course they’ve graduated to cooler and better and we had the opportunity to try out their newest creation. it’s called play-doh magic swirl ice cream shoppe and woowee was dutch excited about opening the box. i don’t blame him. i was quite ready to dig into it myself.
we made all kinds of ice cream sundaes and little toppings like sprinkles and cookies!! we squished play-doh into the ice cream cranker thing and made chocolate and strawberry ice cream cones that we fed to daddy.
the set comes complete with sundae cups and ice cream cones, spoons and over 40 dessert-themed molds.
kids can have fun making strawberries and cookie crumbles, bananas for splits and a whole slew of sweets. and we did. we made a whole slew of sweets.
and then comes my hate of play-doh.
play-doh is cool if you have wood flooring, i’m guessing. not so cool for carpet. so needless to say i was not too happy when a couple days later dutch was mashing the “chocolate ice cream” onto my living room carpet trying to make “footprints.”
yeah, not so fun.
but anyhoo, the play-doh magic swirl ice cream shoppe is in stores now for $14.99. for kids ages 3 & up!

I love seeing Dutch enjoying playing with his Play-Doh…he is soooo into it.
I’ve seen this - but haven’t gotten it. I think it’s a great idea…for hardwood floored houses =O)
I hate to admit that I avoid the play-doh as much as I can get away with just because I hate cleaning up the mess….but sometimes I break down and drag it all out…uggghh
Great stuff, but how do you take it apart for storage? The attachment is too stiff to release from the base. My 6 year old grandaughter flew back to England yesterday and I want to store her toys until her next visit.
this toy is actually a nightmare to store!
where can i buy the play doh?(please reply me)
toys r us or target carries play doh.
