jimi hendrix :: the wind cries mary

my uncle tony was a HUGE jimi hendrix fan. huge. i remember back in ’93 when caron wheeler released beach of the war goddess and i was so hooked on her music. you might remember caron as the woman singing lead vocals on soul II soul’s “back to life.” but anyway, i played that cassette tape to death! then my mama told me that one of the songs, “the wind cries mary,” was actually a jimi hendrix song from his are you experienced album. i let my uncle hear caron’s version and he wasn’t very impressed. haha!! his response was something like, “it’s alright…”
